Moosend vs GetResponse: 12 Aspects Compared In-Detail

Are you in a dilemma to choose the best email marketing platform among Moosend vs GetResponse?

Believe me, it’s not cliche when it’s said ‘the money is in the list.’

According to research done by Mckinsey and Company, email marketing is 40 times more effective than social media in terms of conversion.

While there are lots of email marketing tools out there, today, we’ll take a tour of Moosend and GetResponse.

Both are worthy contenders as they have robust features and functionalities.

Moosend is the newbie in this match as it got into the game in 2011. A London-based solution that gives you flexible and customizable email marketing solutions at pocket-friendly prices.

GetResponse, on the other hand, is an oldy that has been laying the field since 1998. Some reviewers on Capterra have called it a solid alternative to MailChimp.

Well, maybe, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Moosend vs GetResponse

Moosend’s interface is fairly simple to use.

It won’t get your brain wires crossed and all the features are right in front of you to click and choose.

If you are a beginner and think navigating through complex UIs is a drag, worry no more.

Moosend interface

Moosend’s interface provides you helpful instructions and you will be able to design campaigns using their drag and drop features like a pro!

GetResponse, on the other hand, has a user-friendly interface to some extent but not as simple as that of Moosend.

GetResponse interface

Of course, you can import contacts, check statistics, and create campaigns pretty easily. But with their huge range of features, you’ve got a learning curve waiting for you.

I liked the ‘Quick action’ column that allows you to get started on the commonly performed tasks.

You have total control of the dashboard as you can add and remove widgets. However, I wish they made it easier to navigate out of the email editor.

Winner: Moosend. They have a user-friendly interface that’s very easy to navigate. It’s not as clean or simple like Mailerlite or MailChimp but you’ll easily move around. No learning curve!

Listing management

If you wish to speak to your customer according to their needs, then keeping a segmented list will go a long way.

Moosend offers loads of options to upload your list. From simple copy-paste to CSV/excel file, Salesforce, Google contacts, etc. You got all the liberty!

Moosend lists

Moosend also allows you to keep personalized lists based on your customer’s interests.

To do that, you can collect customer information such as their location, product preferences, weather conditions, birthday, etc using Moosend’s text, dropdown lists, checkboxes, and date/time.

This way, you can send them emails when you need to engage them with a new product of their choice or even re-engage them with cart abandonment notifications.

Another super feature is Real-time tracking.

They get all brownie points here. It allows you to track the activities on your website and segment your audience in lists based on their behavior. The results? Hyper-targeted emails to your audience!

Plus, if a customer appears on multiple lists, they are only counted once. We’re not talking double counts like in Aweber and MailChimp.

Now, GetResponse’s listing management capabilities are no less.

GetResponse lists

It also allows you to upload files using third-party services such as Salesforce, Google, Zendesk Support, and a few more.

You can create spiced up segmentation lists just like with Moosend based on contact email engagement behavior, field data, lead scores, etc.

It has an advanced segmentation feature that can let you use custom filters to add segments and tags to your contacts.

GetResponse goes further and allows you to exclude certain contacts in case they have an open support ticket until the issue is resolved.

They also have ‘one-click segmentation’ and ‘metrics over time’ which segments people according to their engagement with the campaign. It gives you laser-focus personalization when emailing your contacts.

But, wait right there folks.

You are allowed to send an email to several segments at a go or exclude one or two segments depending on your needs.

You don’t see this flexibility anywhere else but on CampaignMonitor and it comes at an exorbitant price.

The list hygiene feature will blow your mind. You can create rules to delete or blacklist your audience. How cool is that?

Winner: GetResponse. It has quite an impressive option for intelligent segmentation and list management.

Email broadcasts and templates

To create those beautifully designed emails, Moosend offers you a kickass campaign creation wizard.

I love how it takes you step-by-step to create those dreamy email campaigns.

The drag and drop editor allows you to have a seamless experience when creating newsletters or emails.

Fret not, it’s extremely easy to use and does not require any technical skills. You can add custom fonts, images, videos, etc.

Moosend email templates

Moosend offers 40 built-in templates that you can choose from to create compelling newsletters for any industry.

If you’ve used Mailerlite templates, you’ll be at home on the Moosend WYSIWYG email editor.

For all those tech geeks out there, you don’t need to be disappointed as you can get an equal chance of showing your HTML skills.

Moosend allows you to edit the code alongside the visual builder as well.

Another impressive feature by Moosend is its countdown emails. This allows your subscribers to make a quick decision regarding, for example, an offer that will expire in a few days.

After launching your campaign, you can check statistics in your dashboard as to how well your campaign performed through CTR and open rate.

Now, GetResponsive also gives you hundreds of responsive and customizable newsletter template designs to choose from or you can opt to create your own.

And if you want to go hard, you can use the HTML template.

GetResponse email templates

It may take a bit of practice to use the email editor but it’s more flexible than most tools in the market. I love the fact that they included UNDO/REDO buttons as well as revision history. Thumbs up!

It has a perfect timing feature that will deliver emails to your customers according to the time they read emails the most.

And, a time travel feature that will send emails to your customers according to their time zone. Cool, right?

This expands your brand exposure if you have customers around the world.

Okay apart from this, GetResponse gives you the opportunity to view your newsletter designs both on desktop and mobile devices. You can see how the newsletter design looks using a mock mobile preview.

Moosend does not provide this feature to its customers, yet.

Winner: GetResponse. You have hundreds of built-in templates with a flexible and customizable drag and drop editor. But MailChimp has 600+ email templates and comes with a lower price tag.

Automation builder

Time is money! Creating email sequences manually is time-consuming so automating is the most productive and time-saving action that you can take.

Moosend automations

Luckily, Moosend includes automation in all of its plans, including the free plan. Moosend calls these automation workflows as ‘Recipes’.But don’t worry, it won’t be messy like cooking your food.

These recipes allow you to select the main task and then add if/else conditions based on your client’s responses.

It doesn’t get any easier than using these pre-made workflow templates.

Whether it’s ‘Welcome’ emails for new customers, ‘Thankyou’, ‘Cart Abandonment’, and ‘Special Offer’ emails, etc.

You can hit the ground running even when you don’t have an idea on how to go about automation workflows. Very similar to the Ontraport automation templates.

One interesting predefined recipe is also the ability to filter according to weather conditions and so you can also email a customer not to forget their umbrella if it’s raining in their region.

But if you know what you’re doing, you can create your automation sequence from scratch.

Moosend automation workflow

The easy-to-use drag and drop automation builder is surprisingly responsive. All you need to do is set triggers and actions and voila! Your sequence is ready.

I loved that this fluid automation comes even in the free version. No stingy behavior like in MailChimp where you’ve got to pay for this level of automation.

GetResponse is not behind in market automation. The competition is cutthroat here.

GetResponse automation

It also has a drag-and-drop automation builder that allows you to take action and place conditions on its workflow page.

Normal triggers and actions. But it also comes with ready-made automation workflow templates making it easier for anyone learning how to create email sequences.

The only kicker is that the number of templates is based on the plan you’re on.

But it’s not a deal-breaker as you get welcome, lead qualifying, engagement, online courses, webinars, and affiliate marketing workflow templates with all plans.

But, I loved that you can label contacts based on their response and drag and drop subscriber tags into your workflow.

As a result, you create different pathways for a more enriched user experience. It takes subscriber customization to the nth degree.

However, you need to subscribe to the pricey professional plan to use these advanced email sequencing features. But Moosend offers a considerable level of automation even in its free plan.

Winner: GetResponse. It is not ActiveCampaign but it’s a full-fledged automation builder, it allows you to take your automation to another level.

The fact that it adds affiliate marketing, webinars, and online courses to its automation templates makes it a big deal. But, Moosend is also a powerful and flexible automation tool if you can’t afford GetResponse.

A/B Testing

A/B testing allows companies to optimize their campaigns by making critical changes in the user experience. It can be a game-changer for many.

With Moosend, you can first click on their ‘New campaign’ button and select the A/B testing campaign. There you can choose test variations like email subject line, content, and email sender.

Moosend split testing

You can A/B test your drip emails as well as one-off broadcasts. But not your landing pages. Sorry!

Luckily, this feature is provided in their free plan as well. Way to go, Moosend!

GetResponse split testing

Now, GetResponse gives you advanced options by providing five variations including subject line, From Field, email content, and delivery time. You can do this to your one-off broadcasts or automation emails.

But that’s not the honey pot. Guess what?

You can A/B test your landing pages too. GetResponse allows you to test up to 10 designs of one landing page. Whoop! Whoop!

Winner: GetResponse. Because Moosend and other competitors only allow 2 or 3 variations while GetRespose gives you 5. And you can split test your landing pages as well.

eCommerce CRM

One of the biggest features Moosend offers for online stores is it’s eCommerce AI.

It allows you to keep track of your lost sales by contacting your abandoned carts, sending product recommendations, and reminders. It’s personalization on another level.

I also loved the product blocks that make it possible for you to create and send shoppable emails.

It gives you the power to turn your emails into mini-stores where people can view and shop your products. Cool, right?

Moreover, it has a real-time tracking feature that keeps track of the customer behavior that can later be used to provide a more personalized experience to the user.

Oh! And we can’t forget the ‘Refine’ feature that helps you get trending topics for your shoppable emails.

However, it doesn’t natively integrate with Shopify but you got WooCommerce and Salesforce to increase email personalization.

GetResponse has a built-in CRM tool to track every nook and corner of your eCommerce.

It is more than just an email marketing platform. It can be fully used to run a whole eCommerce business. It’s easy to track your eCommerce activity and conversion rates thanks to their landing pages.

It has an impressive feature called Autofunnels which lets you create visual funnels for selling ebooks or signing up for the webinar.

One particular feature I admire is the ‘conversion funnels’ feature.

With this amazing feature, you can create product catalogs, run Facebook ad campaigns, create landing pages, drive your subscribers to the sales pages, and accept payment for the purchased products.

In addition, you can add subscribers to an autoresponder cycle of your choice and send abandoned cart emails and reminders to them.

Basically, it’s your one-stop-shop for creating and managing a successful sales funnel under one roof.

You can proudly access this feature in all of their tiers but their basic plan allows you to create just one funnel.

In terms of integrations, both provide access to big platforms like Shopify, Woocommerce, Etsy, and BigCommerce.

Winner: GetResponse. While some learning curve is required, GetResponse still has abundant features required to run your eCommerce business in one place.

Forms and landing pages

Moosend has extremely gorgeous landing page designs. I like how they add new designs almost every day to increase their collection and satisfy their user needs.

Moosend landing pages

No rocket science here, you can simply create landing pages using their drag and drop builder and choose images, elements, textboxes and forms of your choice.

Plus, there is also an HTML option to create your landing pages.

The templates definitely appear high quality and professional.

Apart from being super flexible, these templates are also mobile-responsive which is why your designs will look great on any device. Plus, they’re all SSL enabled.

But their landing page functionality is not available in their free plan.

The forms also come with the same level of flexibility and responsiveness. They have numerous form templates that allow you to create inline forms, floating boxes, floating bars, modal pop-ups, you name it.

GetResponse landing pages

GetResponse has hundreds of templates to meet your needs for sign-up forms and landing pages.

The landing page builder is pretty much flexible and highly customizable. I like that you can set up your ads, webinars, web forms, and social media campaigns in the landing page editor.

And you have the option to use CSS/HTML to create your landing pages and forms.

But I am not particularly fond of their interface and the fact that you have to create separate pages for mobile and desktop is a serious off-putting feature for me.

There are also hundreds of form templates that you can use to create pop-up forms like scroll-based or exit intent forms. You can also create floating bars and boxes.

But it does offer WordPress and Joomla integration where you can create forms and landing pages in GetResponse and then assign it to publish on your WordPress.

Winner: Yes, Moosend. Because of its powerful landing page builder flexibility and customization. It provides you the templates that you need along with the mouth-watering pricing package.

Reporting and analytics

One way to improve your campaigns is by gathering real-time data of your customer behaviors.

Moosend reports

With Moosend, you can see a high-end preview of clicks, open rates, bounces, and unsubscribers.

You can also integrate with Google Analytics to get more in-depth reporting, especially for eCommerce.

I also admire how Moosend keeps track of where their users are located and their overall activity (Real-time web tracking feature) so nothing will go amiss.

Lastly, you can download all your reports in PDF or excel as you wish.

GetResponse analytics

GetResponse too shows you the basics of analytics but in addition to that, includes a Google Analytics (GA) tracking tool and some spicy features. With these, you can do real-time eCommerce tracking.

It also gives you the general opens, clicks, unsubscribes, bounces, etc.

Well, you don’t get the heatmaps like in Moosend but it has geo-tracking reports as you can see your desktop and mobile users.

For example, it has a ‘newsletter performance comparison’ where you can compare the statistics of two newsletter campaigns side by side.

Winner: Tie. They are both great reporting tools. However, if you need in-depth reporting, tools like Klaviyo or ActiveCampaign are better placed to deliver.

Moosend deliverability is considered pretty satisfactory.

Moosend deliverability

Its anti-spam and deliverability test feature ensures your emails don’t end up in your customer’s spam and you can check the layout by sending out emails to a few recipients before sending it to your whole list.

But you need to be aware that this feature is offered only in their Enterprise plan. Bummer!

However, all plans use SPF and DKIM verifications to increase deliverability.

As reviews come, GetResponse needs improvement in that room. However, it does have an anti-spam feature called Hydra and custom DKIM but its deliverability rates have not been great.

I carried out an email deliverability test that involved the top five popular email clients in the US and only 59.23% of GetResponse emails ended up in people’s inboxes.

Winner: Moosend. But, if email deliverability is a big deal to you, Drip or ActiveCampaign is more solid options.

Moosend offers you 90+ integrations including Facebook Leads, Woocomerce, Magento, Salesforce, and many others, making it ideal for CRMs, eCommerce, and lead generation.

Moosend integrations

This wasn’t the case in the beginning but eventually, improving on their feedback they made necessary plugins available.

And I won’t go on without mentioning this, the integrations are all ready to use in their free plan as well.

However, Zapier and PieSync open up hundreds of other API integrations.

GetResponse claims to provide fully automated marketing solutions, and no doubt, it keeps the promise with regards to integrations.

All big platforms like Shopify, Etsy, Facebook, and BigCommerce can be integrated with GetResponse along with payment options like PayPal and Amazon Pay.

However, being an oldie in the industry, it offers quite a few integration options if you compare it to MailChimp ‘s age mate. But thanks to Zapier, you’re able to integrate it with almost any tool you need.

Winner: Tie. Moosend competes well here with GetResponse. They both don’t have a massive list of native integrations but Zapier makes it worth the while.

It is an undeniable fact that using digital tools can also lead you into problems and so, customer support is the backbone of any service.

Moosend offers live chat support to all regardless of their plan, and the response is quite quick. They also offer email and phone support.

But the icing on the cake is the dedicated support manager that you get if you pay for any plan. They help you navigate the system from onboarding henceforth.

GetResponse has 24/7 live chat support and email support for all. And it’s so cool that you can send your email in 8 languages.

English, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Portuguese. It does not offer phone support except in their premium plans.

Both of these tools’ Help section is excellent as they have video tutorials, guides, and blog posts to educate users about the working of the platforms.

Winner: Moosend. People have reported mixed reviews about GetResponse support, with several people saying they had to send queries more than a few times to solve their issues as they were slow to respond.

It all comes down to your budget in the end and so you need to select the tool which is affordable and also fulfills a sustainable level of your requirements.

Moosend pricing

Moosend offers you three plans: Free, Pro, and Enterprise. Their Free plan is quite impressive as it provides you all the core features and allows you to send unlimited emails to 1000 subscribers.

The Pro plan bills you 8$ per month paid annually and along with core features, provides you with services like landing pages, subscription forms, reports, and analytics, and phone support.

Seasonal email marketers can also enjoy their pay-as-you-go plan where you only pay for what you need. $3 gets you 1000 credits/emails.

Finally, their Enterprise plan gives you all the features that Moosend has to offer at a custom pricing.

GetResponse pricing

GetResponse, on the other hand, gives you a free trial for 30 days, and then you need to upgrade to one of their four plans: Basic, Plus, Professional, and Enterprise.

If email marketing features are your major concern, then their free tier gives you access to pretty much everything you need for this. It is priced at only 15$ with a list size of 1,000 contacts.

All the tiers are for 1000 subscribers and the prices increase with the number of subscribers and features.

Winner: Moosend. For those like me who look at value for money, GetResponse loses big here.

After having a detailed analysis of both email marketing tools, we are in a position to conclude which one is better for whom.

Moosend is a great option for those who want to utilize the email automation capabilities to the fullest but at an affordable rate.

It offers pretty nice perks like creating land pages, email campaigns, helpful customer support, and eCommerce stores.

For those who can afford GetResponse pricey plans, they can have access to all the detailed packages that it offers to fully automate their marketing campaigns.

If you need a one-stop-shop for all your eCommerce needs, GetResponse has you covered. Plus, if you need an email platform with webinar functionalities, it’s your best choice.

You can also utilize their automation mechanisms and list management capabilities which are superb for capturing solid customer leads.

Now, handing over the reins to you to decide what will work best for your needs.
